Log 22

When last we saw our heroes, they were (Still!) fighting. That sneaky gaunt tracker is in the cave, trying to steal your finds, and the Knight of the Crone is stalking around the battlefield on the hillside, behaving more like an observer than a proper foe.
Grok: ((more like a coward, you mean))
Malaina struck the gaunt so that he dropped the book, so that’s one redeeming feature of the current situation.
It is Thurirl’s turn.
Thurirl has received initiative.
Thurirl: ((…that figures))
Jamshid par-Bahadur has connected.
Dragonhawk: ((welcome. We just got started, it is Thurirl’s init))
Seiankornai: ((greetings))
You whisper to Grok: What’s your defense, by the way?

  • Thurirl decides his new students need a few more wounds. He picks one out and readies his magic…
    Thurirl: ((aiming for 15))
Grok whispers: defense is 22 AC, DR of 4
  • Thurirl fires off three rays of intense heat, burning into his targets with the fury of his magic!
    (Casting Check: « 1d20+12 = 15 + 12 = 27 » Damage: « 3d4 = 10 » per ray; AP 5)
You whisper to Jamshid par-Bahadur: You missed one announcement: next week, we will be having a two-group session, two sunchaser parties meeting up in a tavern to brag about their latest victories. (The other game is run by my husband on Mon. nights.) This will be happening at our usual time, but in the IRC channel.
You whisper to Grok: OK then you took 6 total damgage after DR after you left last week.
Dragonhawk: ((thurirl, I need another 6d4 worth of damage rolled, and list your targets please))
Thurirl: ((said I was aiming for Ogre 15, unless the group wants me to “share the love”?))
Dragonhawk: ((ah, sorry, missed that somehow.))
    Thurirl: Extra damage rolls: « 3d4 = 11 » « 3d4 = 9 »
    CroneMacros: *Conist Mercenary 15 attacks 30 hitting « 1d20+6 = 3 + 6 = 9 » for damage « 1d12+3 = 8 + 3 = 11 » (threat 20)
    CroneMacros: 15 saves for « 1d20+9 = 1 + 9 = 10 » vs 30
Dragonhawk: ((Ok, disregard the false attack.))
Thurirl: ((I was wondering for a second =P))
  • Mercenary 15 staggers, then roars his defiance
Thurirl: “No grasp of subtlety. Yet an impressive tenacity.”
    Grok: ((that’s an Ogre))
Thurirl: ((and I wouldn’t have it any other way… seriously, the day Ogres learn subtlety, we’re all doomed))
    Jessaila has received initiative.
Mercenary: ((Thurirl, you have an action left, or are you done?))
Thurirl: ((can I toss another spell into the cave?))
Seiankornai: ((no, but you could fire the bow))
Mercenary: ((Or move into the cave, if you wish to provide closer support.))
    Mercenary: ((either one))
Thurirl: ((I think I’ll support Malaina, though I hope the others can stop this wall of muscle))
  • Thurirl decides it’s best not to lose what they came here for. Besides, the cave entrance is small and will slow them down.
    Thurirl: ((done))
Mercenary: ((You can’t go more than your base move in one action, can you?))
Seiankornai: ((not usually; I’m sure there’s some feat or class feature that’d let you though))
Thurirl: ((I dunno… I’ll back up if that’s the case))
    Jessaila!
Jessaila: ((Hm, the purple guys got beat on by Thurirl?))
Thurirl: ((just Ogre 15, and maybe someone I shot last time…))
Seiankornai: ((but the purple ones should be damaged I think))
Mercenary: ((The purple guys have all taken sufficient damage to fail their save once, so yea, damaged))
    Jessaila: ((Moment, lost something.))
Mercenary: ((actually, they’re pretty much all damaged from their earlier fight to some degree or other))
Jessaila: ((Weird, I’ve got a button missing.))
Jessaila: ((Anyway, can I 5’ step, use touche, then go back to a defensive stance to use en garde?))
    Mercenary: ((I think so))
Seiankornai: ((going into a stance is a half action))
Jessaila: ((Is that a yes or a no? ))
Mercenary: ((right, so 5’ step, attack action, stance for the other half action ))
  • Jessaila strikes at the enemy with elfin speed. (Touche; standard character auto-fails damage save.)
  • Jessaila strikes with elfin speed and her fencing sabre. « 1d20+6 = 12 + 6 = 18 » to hit, « 1d10 = 2 » for damage.
  • Jessaila resumes her defensive stance, waiting for an enemy to enter range of her saber.
Mercenary 15 is far too injured to be that enemy at this point.
Jamshid par-Bahadur whispers: so I’d like to bring Axhar in when my initiative comes up — where would you say his bottle is … back in the cave with the backpack?
You whisper to Jamshid par-Bahadur: Undoubtedly.
  • GauntLeader attacks Thurirl with his axe, hitting « 1d20+5 = 2 + 5 = 7 » for possible « 1d6+1 = 5 + 1 = 6 » damage
  • GauntLeader swears in Kamil as his blade slides off the lizarman’s back.
    Isabis has received initiative.
Malaina: ((Hey Thurirl, did you feel a breeze?))
Thurirl: “You need better aim if you’re to part my hide.”
  • Isabis shoots her foe, hitting « 1d20+6 = 1 + 6 = 7 »
  • Isabis misses the axeman and decides to try a more direct approach
Thurirl: ((more like someone trying to give me a shave… and I don’t have hair))
  • Isabis drops her bow and grabs her handclaw again (it’s on a cord for faster equippage)
    Grok has received initiative.
Grok: “Fight me, you coward! Quit hiding behind my people!”
  • Grok punches ogre 11
    Grok: Grok smashes the foe down with brute strength! « 1d20+10 = 18 + 10 = 28 » for « 1d4+8 = 3 + 8 = 11 » damage
You whisper to Grok: The knight responds in your head, “They belong to me and my mistress, and soon you also will belong to us.”
Grok: “Your head will belong on my trophy rack!”
    CroneMacros: 11 saves for « 1d20+9 = 7 + 9 = 16 » vs 18
Grok converts the burning ogre to a burning corpse.
    Grok: ((subdual damge, please))
  • Grok then steps forward 5 and punches Ogre 3
    Grok: Grok smashes the foe down with brute strength! « 1d20+10 = 20 + 10 = 30 » for « 1d4+8 = 1 + 8 = 9 » damage
    Grok: ((done))
Dragonhawk: ((activating that crit or not?))
    Grok: ((Sure, why not))
    Dragonhawk: ((one save autofails))
Seiankornai: ((you can spend as many action dice as it has Toughness))
Seiankornai: ((which I think is one grade of toughness, so 2 AD would knock him out))
    CroneMacros: *Conist Mercenary 3 attacks Grok hitting « 1d20+6 = 8 + 6 = 14 » for damage « 1d12+3 = 12 + 3 = 15 » (threat 20)

    Dragonhawk: ((19, he’s now flanking))
    CroneMacros: *Conist Mercenary 10 attacks Jessaila hitting « 1d20+6 = 20 + 6 = 26 » for damage « 1d12+3 = 11 + 3 = 14 » (threat 20)
  • Jessaila strikes out at the approaching enemy. (Ref save DC 15 to avoid « 1d10+1 = 5 + 1 = 6 » damage.)
Grok: ((well, if I have 2, I’ll spend the 2nd one as well))
    Dragonhawk: ogre reflex « 1d20+3 = 10 + 3 = 13 »
Jamshid par-Bahadur whispers: did we say that exiting the bottle took 1 action or 1 full round? I forget which.
    Unresolved value “which”.
    CroneMacros: 10 saves for « 1d20+9 = 1 + 9 = 10 » vs 27
Seiankornai: ((wait, I was incorrect; DH just said they don’t refesh in the middle of battle))
You whisper to Jamshid par-Bahadur: I don’t recall, but I think it’s posted on obsidian portal))
    CroneMacros: *Conist Mercenary 14 attacks Jamshid hitting « 1d20+6 = 12 + 6 = 18 » for damage « 1d12+3 = 10 + 3 = 13 » (threat 20)

Dragonhawk: ((wait, can you use that ability more than once a round?))
    Jessaila: ((I think I can, yes. ))
    Jessaila: ((Doesn’t say I can’t.))
Dragonhawk: ((roll damge then, you’re hitting this one too))

Mercenaries 4 adn 5 are still hopelessly entangled
    Jamshid par-Bahadur has received initiative.

Thurirl: ((Note to Self: keep using Entanglement.))

  • Seiankornai figures the time for fire is done, now it’s time for claws and teeth
